Levadas (levadas.live) is a commercial service run as an
independent project. This page
covers how to reach us, how paid passes are sold, refunds, and cookies. Your data is covered
by our Privacy Policy; using the app is covered by our
Terms of Service.

Payments and Merchant of Record
Paid passes are sold by Lemon Squeezy as our
Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy, not Levadas, is the seller of record
for your purchase: it runs the checkout, issues your receipt, and collects and remits any
tax that applies, including EU VAT. Your card details go straight to Lemon Squeezy under
its own terms and privacy policy.
We never see or store them.
Refund policy
Passes are digital and unlock premium features as soon as you activate your pass by signing
in.
If you are an EU or EEA consumer you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital
purchase. Because a pass gives you immediate digital access, at checkout you are asked to
expressly agree to that immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose the 14-day
withdrawal right once the pass is activated. If you complete checkout on that basis, the pass
is non-refundable from activation, and all sales are final. We do not offer
change-of-mind refunds.
We will still arrange a refund where we have to, namely for:
- a duplicate or accidental double charge,
- a billing error, or
- a technical fault on our side that stopped you using a pass you paid for.
Because Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record, it may also process refunds, chargebacks or
disputes under its own policy. To make a request, email
info@levadas.live with your receipt. We respond within
5 business days.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage to run the app: your session, saved trails,
preferences, and offline mode. If you sign in, your saved trails and preferences are also
stored in your account so they sync across your devices. Optional Google Analytics and
Microsoft Clarity load only if you accept the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that at any
time under Profile → About Levadas → Privacy & cookies. The cookieless
Cloudflare traffic count runs either way. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
The optional cookies, set only after you accept, are:
- _ga and _ga_* (Google Analytics, kept up to about 13 months): tell returning from new visits. We run Google Analytics with IP anonymization.
- _clck (Microsoft Clarity, kept up to about 1 year) and _clsk (Microsoft Clarity, session): group a visit's pages so we can spot confusing screens.
Until you accept, none of these are set. Essential storage (your session, saved trails,
preferences and the offline cache) is not an advertising or tracking cookie and is needed for
the app to work.
Data sources & attribution
Levadas combines several open and official data sources. The 0 to 100 score is built from
the weather along the route. An official IFCN closure hard-overrides it to zero and is not
one of the score's ingredients; the other sources listed below feed the Moments windows,
the alerts feed and the information shown beside the score, not the score itself. The
score is an algorithmic suggestion to help you plan, not a safety clearance.
- Weather and marine data: Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), licensed CC BY 4.0, based on the DWD ICON weather model — © Deutscher Wetterdienst, provided under GeoNutzV.
- Weather warnings: IPMA (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera), Portuguese open data — “Fonte: IPMA”.
- Fire danger: EFFIS — © European Union, Copernicus Emergency Management Service / JRC.
- Active fire detections: NASA FIRMS (earthdata.nasa.gov/firms).
- Terrain, slope and viewpoint facing: Copernicus DEM GLO-30 — © DLR e.V. 2010–2014 and © Airbus Defence and Space GmbH 2014–2018, provided under COPERNICUS by the European Union and ESA. Slope and facing values are derived estimates from a 30 m elevation model, not surveyed measurements.
- Official trail status and classifications: IFCN (Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza).
- Flight arrival and diversion data: AeroDataBox.

Our own photographs
Photographs marked as the owner's own are © Emanuele Vicinanza, all rights reserved.
They are published here so you can see the trail before you walk it. You may not
redistribute them, sell them, or use them in your own guide, listing or model training
set without written permission. Ask at
info@levadas.live and the answer is often yes.
Third-party photographs are a different matter and carry their own licences, listed
below.

Every photograph on this site that is not the owner's own, with its author and licence.
This is the single place they live: the app's credit disclosure and the photo pages both
point here rather than repeating the list, so there is one copy to keep true.
