This is the short accessible section of the Caldeirão Verde route, running about 1.9 km along the flat levada esplanade between the Queimadas and Pico das Pedras forest parks near Santana. The surface is wide and even, built so wheelchairs, strollers, and visitors with reduced mobility can reach the laurisilva, and it skips the mud and rock tunnels of the full PR9. Walkers pass from Madeira's native UNESCO laurel forest into a planted zone of exotic trees such as Japanese cedars, with the Queimadas park area as a calm picnic and rest stop.
